Upper Village, Whistler, British Columbia, Canada
Upper Village, also known as the Blackcomb Benchlands or “The Bench,” is in Whistler Village in Whistler of British Columbia, Canada. Upper Village has a majority of hotels and staying options, rather than residences and permanent living.
For just a tip of the iceberg, Upper Village offers hotels such as Fairmont Chateau Whistler, Coast Blackcomb Suites at Whistler, Le Chamois, Glacier Lodge, and Woodrun Lodge. Fairmont Chateau Whistler offers multiple dining options, including a choice to have teatime. Coast Blackcomb Suites at Whistler have free shuttle services and the daily newspaper available, as well as a homely reminder fulfilled by their daily morning breakfasts. If staying with a pet, a portion of the proceeds go to the Whistler Animal Shelter. Certain suites contain a flat-screen TV set and the hotel has a fitness center (something superfluous, considering many stay on the slopes all day) and heated tubs outside. Additionally, Le Chamois features exquisite views of the valley and mountains while having different kinds of rooms to choose from for comfort. The hotel also has very good accessibility to the Village and the Benchlands is already a ski-in and ski-out location, and staying active is not an issue. Usually, shuttles will drop by at hotels every 10 or 20 minutes (depending on season).
Upper Village also has lift access to Blackcomb Mountain and pedestrian areas to walk to Whistler Village and a world-record breaking gondola takes people from Blackcomb Mountain to Whistler Mountain and back again. Otherwise, the Upper Village Market is a high quality grocery store that also offers gift baskets for residents.
Although Upper Village offers certain attractions, the main stores and hub of constant activity is centered in Whistler Village. However, Upper Village is the excellent area when needing accommodations, considering its close proximity to Blackcomb Mountain and multiple hotels and lodges for tourists to get around in comfort. That does not mean that Upper Village is unsafe, especially with the facilities in Whistler Village, including a police department, fire hall, and municipal services.
Condo rentals and lodging is available right next to the slopes where people can ski until they drop. With nearby access to all kinds of activities, tourists can find vacation rentals for travel groups of any size. However, weather is a powerful force in deciding the ideal time to travel and Blackcomb Mountain receives twenty feet of snow each year. Other things to do include hiking, biking, and golf for the fanatics.
